Today's fest began with the dismantling of Chris' new Marinoni 'cross bike that he had recently T-boned a minivan with. Fortunately Chris was still in good health unlike his frame which had cracks in the top and down tubes where they join the head tube. There was also a big kink in the down tube and the fork was bent. The frame was well beyond repair, so we spent a half hour removing all the good parts. I opted to purchase the headset but did not have the tool to remove the races from the head tube, so we just cut the head tube off with a hacksaw leaving me with all the bearings. At this point Chris tossed his Marinoni into the field and we went to start the tractor. Once the motor warmed up (and the smoke cleared) we journeyed into the woods to discover loose belts. Ascending, baja, and tree destruction were greatly compromised by the loose belts so we returned to the barn and lowered the transmission. The adjustment proved accurate when we returned to the woods. A wheelie while ascending the steep hill delayed us briefly by turning the tractor ninety degrees before the front wheels touched down. Baja was exceptional; trail blazing through some small pine and a few minutes of forest clearing was followed by a surprise wheelie which caused the tractor to make an about face. By the time it was over the front wheels were still in the air because the transmission was resting on a boulder more than two feet off the ground. Close inspection of the situation showed no damage done so we pushed the tractor off the boulder and continued baja and forest clearing. After we crossed the stone wall, Matt C. got ejected while riding the bull. Then we ascended to the highway fence and did some high speed baja. The downhill excitement paused when we encountered a tree which tore the seat lid off its hinges. After recovering the lid, we descended the steep embankment near the highway overpass and found Greg at the edge of the road. Then we picked up two sacrificial TVs donated by Graeme. We ascended to the turnaround and went over the stonewall with Chris shotgun and the TVs in the dump body. High speed navigation ended when I stalled the motor and we carried the TVs the rest of the way to the cliff. The first TV was tossed and the tube completely separated from the rest of the pieces. The tube was tossed a second time and sounded the loudest implosion ever at TV cliff. The second TV took four attempts to smash the screen. At this time Greg departed just as Craig and John showed up. We ascended to the summit and added some rocks to the monument. George and I got one rock that the differential kept bottoming out on, while Chris and Matt V. managed to remove a massive rock from the ground. It took four people to lift it onto the top of the monument. Then we descended the steep west side into a chilling wind. With Gavin shotgun, we tractored the off camber section, down Chris and Matt's path, and over the stonewall where Craig rode the bull. After the bull we immediately neutral dropped into a rocky section which bounced the right rear wheel airborne. After checking for late arrivals, we ascended the steep hill and got delayed by another wheelie. Then we went to the stone wall gap at the road side. We found no mud and ran out of gas just before the road. After refueling, we returned to the barn driveway. At this point everyone departed except Chris, Jeff, and Brett. While ascending the steep hill the cops drove by rolling strong, probably looking for a whole bunch of cars that were no longer there. No worries for us though because I now have the land owner's permission to fest on Mt. Tractor. Of course in the event of the cops actually finding us festing on private property the plan is not to mention that we are allowed there until we've argued with them for a while first. After some baja, we returned to the yard and concluded Novemberfest '98.
